Are you gay and want to date or even get into a committed relationship, but are unhappy with your body? More and more people in our community are turning to Ozempic, the so-called weight-loss injection. The question of whether Ozempic is safe is often overlooked. The potential weight-loss success seems more important. If you are considering using Ozempic safely, you should at least have the most important information. We have compiled it for you in this post.

Beauty ideal at any price?

Many men in the LGBTQIA community feel obliged to an ideal of beauty. This includes not only a trained body but also the lowest possible body fat percentage. In order to keep their chances on the male market and to get as close as possible to their ideal, they train, fast and watch every calorie.

But what can you do when nothing helps and the needle on the scales just won’t go down? Then the trend is towards diets, liposuction or medication such as Ozempic, the slimming injection. It is currently the talk of the town among many stars and starlets in the entertainment industry. But is Ozempic safe? What is the new Hollywood drug all about and what should you bear in mind when using it?

Hollywood is getting slim

Many Hollywood stars are thought to use Ozempic safely. These include the Kardashians as well as Jessica Simpson, Amy Schumer or Sharon Osbourne (the latter two speak quite openly about their use). Most of the time, people don’t like to talk about how and, in particular, by what means they’ve gotten so slim so quickly. Robbie Williams also seems to use the weight-loss injection. How else could his statement be understood: “Babe, I’m on Ozempic”? In fact, more and more men are also using Ozempic & Co. to conform to the prevailing ideal of beauty, lose pounds and achieve a slimmer body.

However, the effects of the injection not only include weight loss, but also the so-called “Ozempic Face”. This means that the facial skin cannot shrink at the same speed as the new shape of the face due to the speed of weight loss. This is why it appears flabby and feels loose. There are also other possible side effects. These include persistent nausea, vomiting, headaches, pancreatitis, eating disorders, diarrhea, constipation or intestinal obstruction. These side effects already give you an important clue as to whether Ozempic is safe.

Was Ozempic developed as a “weight loss injection for everyone”?

The answer here has to be a clear no. Ozempic and Wegovy both contain the active ingredient semaglutide and were originally developed for people with obesity and type 2 diabetes. People in the target group were supposed to inject themselves with the drug once a week to control their blood sugar levels and lower their hemoglobin A1C. Wegovy was approved in the US by the FDA for obesity and weight-related medical problems and contains a higher dose of the active ingredient. This is 2.4 milligrams of semaglutide, while Ozempic is available in doses of 0.5 milligrams, 1 milligram or 2 milligrams of semaglutide.

Because Wegovy was available in too small quantities and at the same time the weight-reducing properties of Ozempic were hyped in social media, people without type 2 diabetes or obesity also started to use it. Due to the rapid weight loss associated with taking Ozempic, its use has become a real trend since 2023. The question must be asked here whether Ozempic is safe when used by people outside the actual target group.

What happens when it is taken?

Taking Ozempic promotes the release of insulin by the pancreas in response to food intake. This helps to control blood sugar levels. At the same time, it slows down the release of glucagon, a hormone that increases blood sugar levels. This also helps to control blood sugar.

The medication also works in the brain. The hypothalamus is the area of the brain that regulates appetite. The active ingredient in Ozempic and similar medications ensures that the brain sends a satiety signal. Your desire to eat decreases. In addition, your brain tells your stomach to keep the food there longer. This also ensures a longer feeling of satiety. Because of these effects, you lose an average of almost 17 percent of your body weight. The active ingredient semaglutide also has an impact on the reward system: your desire for junk food or very high-fat and high-carbohydrate food is reduced.

Ozempic was not specifically developed as a weight loss medication, but studies sponsored by Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of Ozempic, suggest that people who take semaglutide – the active ingredient in Ozempic – may lose weight. Perhaps for this reason, the FDA approved the active ingredient semaglutide for weight loss under the brand name Wegovy as early as 2021.

What you should definitely know about Ozempic

Before you use Ozempic safely, you should know that you will need to inject the active ingredient semaglutide on a permanent basis. If you stop taking it, you will quickly put on the weight you have lost. In addition, it must be taken in conjunction with a holistic lifestyle change. Just injecting yourself is not enough. You also need to get more exercise and change your diet. So before you ask yourself whether Ozempic is safe, you should ask yourself whether you want to inject yourself every week for the rest of your life, radically change your lifestyle and risk severe side effects just to lose a few pounds.

The cost of Ozempic is also an important issue. In Germany, you need a private prescription if you want to get the drug and pay between 300 and 400 euros for a “monthly ration” of the drug. The magazine FOCUS online has calculated that the cost of the weight loss injections can amount to 1,600 euros in extreme cases, if you want to lose ten kilograms of weight, for example. If the treatment is not medically necessary, i.e. necessary due to the aforementioned conditions of obesity or type 2 diabetes, the treatment costs will not be covered by health insurance.

Conclusion: Is Ozempic safe?

Whether Ozempic is safe cannot be said with certainty at the moment. What is certain, however, is that you will lose weight and that the treatment is expensive. With regard to the possible side effects, questions remain to be answered, and no one can guarantee that you will be spared all side effects. In any case, no one would wish the side effects that are known to occur on anyone.

So ask yourself honestly whether it is really necessary to invest so much money in a drug that is so expensive and can have many side effects. Maybe it makes more sense to try other ways to get you moving more and live healthier overall. Then you can invest the money in hot sex toys or exciting fetish outfits, for example. These are probably much safer and definitely a lot more fun.
