Lube allergy? These alternatives provide safe anal fun

3 Min. Lesezeit

For gays, lube is an indispensable aid, because there is no natural moisture in the anal area. Only well-lubricated vaginal sex is really fun, and the use of dildos is also dependent on it. But what if the lubricant has annoying side effects and ruins all your fucking pleasure? In this case, you might have an allergy to the ingredients and need a remedy. We tell you how to keep your ass supple and how you can recognise an allergy to lube.

Is there such a thing? How do you notice a lube allergy?

We all know the typical excuse of the one-night stand who supposedly doesn’t use condoms and would rather have the blowjob “without”. In many cases this is not true, but what about the lube allergy? Is it also just a lame excuse, or does it really exist? In fact, an intolerance to the ingredients of lubricating gels is not at all uncommon and can cause considerable side effects and symptoms. A very typical sign is a nasty itchiness that becomes noticeable shortly after contact with lubricating gel.

In addition, long-term skin contact can lead to burning sensations, an unsightly rash and small pustules. You should not expect really severe pain, but if you feel it during sex, you should consider alternative causes.

And now? If lube makes your dick itch, there are ways to help

As soon as you have rubbed your cock with the pleasantly scented lubricating gel, it itches like fire and turns red? This could be due to an allergy. The good news is that not every lubricant has to be incompatible. If you’ve used a silicone-based lubricant before, switch to a water-based lubricant first. Sometimes, however, it’s not the base itself but additives that are responsible for you not being able to tolerate the lube. First and foremost, there are fragrances that can irritate your sensitive penis skin.

Here, it is worthwhile to use a medicinal lubricant gel that is produced without perfume and annoying secondary substances. Allergy sufferers generally benefit from using products with as few ingredients as possible. A trap here can also be “functional lubricants” which are supposed to have particularly tingling effects. If you don’t use this type of gel, you don’t necessarily have a generalised allergy.

Use alternatives – so you enjoy the assfuck without lube

Anything that slides is cool at first. Are all alternatives really suitable for anal sex? Of course not, because some lubricants aren’t particularly skin-friendly. Here are a few remedies that can help you with a lube allergy.

  • Arganoil: The light oil provides a solid layer of lubrication and is quite suitable for anal sex. Unlike silicone lubricant, however, it is very thin, so you will need to re-lubricate in between. Please also remember that not every dildo with oil can be used. If in doubt, protect your toy with a condom.
  • CBD-Oil: The oil made from hemp seedsoil and CBD is definitely an alternative to lube worth mentioning, as it is well tolerated by the skin and is even said to have gentle effects. Its slipperiness is good, and it can be combined with condoms. Make sure that you always get CBD from certified sources and not from the kiosk on the corner.
  • Almondoil: Unless you have a nut allergy, almondoil is probably the best alternative to anal lubricant. Its wonderfully sweet aroma beguiles the senses, while the high vitamin E content is ideal for moisturising the anal mucosa. Compared to the classic lubricants, you have to reckon with a more fluid consistency, here less is often more.
  • Ultrasound gel: It comes from the medical field and is used for anal examinations. Due to its production from propylene glycol and water, the gel does not contain any additives worth mentioning and is very well suited as an alternative to classic lubricant gel. Its texture is somewhat thicker, which can lead to initial difficulties.

There are other oils that you can use as an alternative. For example, coconut oil, vitamin E oil and sunflower oil are popular. The latter should not be processed, otherwise it can irritate the sensitive mucous membranes.

Absolute no-gos – these tools are not for the ass

When it comes to the crunch, any (lubricant) tool will do? That’s not a good idea, because some substances irritate the skin and are taboo for the ass. First and foremost is the popular baby oil, which is neither condom-friendly nor sufficiently lubricating. Please also forget about curious aids such as sun cream, body lotion or the hand cream of your flatmate. Absolute taboos are, of course, toothpaste, shaving foam or tea tree oil. These products burn like fire and certainly do not ensure itch-free anal pleasure.

Do I need to see a doctor? When you should seek the help of a professional

In most cases, allergic symptoms will subside as soon as you are no longer exposed to the substance. Take a break from sex until the pimples have disappeared, and the irritation has subsided. If the symptoms do not disappear within a week, or if you are suffering from severe pain, please see your urologist immediately. He or she can tell you whether the symptoms are really caused by a lubricating gel allergy, or whether there is another cause.
