Safety
Masks that restrict breathing – especially gas masks and closed hoods – require extra caution. Agree on a safety signal before every session (a gesture, since safewords are difficult with a gas mask on). Never practise breath-control play alone. If you feel panic, shortness of breath or discomfort, remove the mask immediately. Check gas mask filters regularly – a blocked filter can dangerously restrict breathing.
Care
Treat leather masks with leather cleaner, store dry. Treat latex with conditioner or talcum powder, never in direct sunlight. Wash spandex and lycra at low temperature in the machine.
